Why Some People May Seem Rude

I know this is an old post but I run into this problem all the time. This issue is both very common and often confusing for many individuals.

As a person, I strive to maintain a positive attitude and kindness towards others, even during difficult times. However, it's important to remember that others might not have the same coping skills. This can be even more challenging for younger generations who were not taught face-to-face interaction skills, such as those from Generation Z, a term often used for individuals born in the late 1990s to the early 2000s.

It's crucial to understand that these younger individuals are not malicious; rather, they simply lack social awareness. The childhoods they grew up in were more focused on technology, which can impact their social development. For example, many parents in recent generations were at home while their parents worked, while now, it's the norm for both parents to work full-time.

Other generations might face different challenges, such as mental illness, trauma, or isolation due to various reasons. These situations may affect how they interact with others. While every individual's circumstances are unique, the key point to remember is that your presence is coincidental. These people are processing their own issues and simply feeling overwhelmed at the moment.

Reflect on my younger self. My twenties were more fragile, and over time, working alongside diverse individuals has provided me with a deeper understanding of people's behaviors and personalities. Despite the diversity in the workplace today, it can still be challenging to understand others' motivations.

Understanding and Coping

Here’s my advice: Be yourself, be present, and be open to others if they need to talk, cry, or find comfort. In difficult situations, try to be the bigger person and find constructive ways to handle the interaction.

It's important to remember that two wrongs don’t make a right. Instead, strive to escalate the situation to a positive one.

I hope this helps you gain a better perspective. Good luck and God bless.
