Why I Strongly Believe in Upholding Animal Welfare and Protecting the Vulnerable

My core beliefs are shaped by a deep love and respect for life, whether it be humans, animals, or spiritual entities. There are several causes that resonate with me deeply, and today I would like to discuss my strong belief in animal welfare and the protection of the vulnerable. These causes are personal to me and hold a special place in my heart.

Animal Welfare

First and foremost, I strongly believe in the protection and welfare of animals. We often forget that animals are capable of experiencing pain, joy, and a myriad of emotions just like humans. Yet, they do not have the voice to advocate for themselves. This is a responsibility we, as human beings, must take on. Animal welfare is not just about ensuring that animals are treated humanely, but also about understanding the emotional and physical needs of these creatures.

The world is drowning in animal abuse and neglect. For instance, people dumping animals on the streets, or leaving them in empty houses when they move away, is a form of cruelty that needlessly causes suffering. It is unacceptable and must be addressed. Protecting cats and dogs, as well as other animals, is crucial to my belief system. We should strive to create a world where all animals are valued and cared for.

Protecting the Vulnerable

It is also important to look after the vulnerable members of our society, such as severely injured veterans and children with catastrophic health conditions. Organizations like the Wounded Warriors Project, Disabled American Veterans, and Shriners Hospitals for Children provide vital support to those who have been injured in the line of duty or are dealing with severe health issues.

Moreover, child poverty, mistreatment, and abuse are profound issues that touch the very core of our humanity. It is heartbreaking when children are subjected to such injustice. Contributing to organizations that help these children, such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network, is an essential part of my belief in protecting the vulnerable.

Digital Democracy: A Modern Solution

As technology continues to advance, my belief in 'Democracy 2.0' or digitally-mediated direct democracy has also grown stronger. The expansion of digital communication has made it possible for everyone to have a voice and participate in the decision-making process. This concept involves using the internet and blockchain technology to ensure that decisions are made based on the collective will of the people, rather than a small group of individuals.

Before the internet and blockchain, it was logistically impossible for everyone to get an equal say in governing. However, now we can communicate instantly with people across the globe. The net and blockchain technology have made it possible to have a say in decision-making, even for those who may not have physical proximity to a city. This form of direct democracy can prevent the tyranny of the minority, as it ensures that the majority's voice is heard. It is a matter of respecting the collective will of the people, and allowing society to determine what is best for itself.

Believing in direct democracy is not about being against a super-human or slightly above average group of people determining what is best for us. It is about recognizing that society can make informed decisions when given the opportunity. And while murder and property theft are universally seen as criminal, it is important to remember that morality is a social construct, and our values can evolve over time. What is considered right or wrong changes based on societal norms and collective decision-making.
