Why I Love Tuesdays: A Journey to Personal Significance
Thank you for your A2A. The past couple of days have been spent pondering why one might specifically love Tuesdays. Each day holds its own significance, be it spiritual or simply due to personal choice. There are a few reasons that I find Tuesdays particularly special.
A Spiritual Calendar
For the last 50 years, I have dedicated different days to various deities, fostering a personal spiritual practice. Mondays are assigned to Lord Shiva and our Kuladeivam, Madurakali Amman. Tuesdays are reserved for Anjaneya, the god often referred to as Hanuman. Wednesdays are devoted to All Gods Day. Thursdays honor Shirdi Sai Baba, while Fridays continue to the Kuladeivam. Saturdays are reserved for Lord Venkateswara, with Saturday evenings dedicated to the Ganesh Mandir in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi. Sundays are set aside for the Sun God, with recitation of the Aditya Hrudayam occurring daily, especially on Sundays.
Significance of Tuesday
I hold Tuesdays in high regard due to their spiritual and astrological importance. Tuesday is an auspicious day for Lord Murugan (Anjaneya) and Chevvai Mars. In my horoscope, Mars is the exalted planet, and numerologically, I am a perfect Nine. The qualities associated with these are very much a part of my behavior and life, much like the qualities of the star Revathi.
For many, Tuesday might be just another day, but this is not the case for me. The anticipation of starting a fresh work week after a weekend of rest and recharging adds an extra layer of excitement. My love for Tuesdays stems not only from the structured beginning of the work week but also from the mingling of work with personal significance and fulfillment. This makes Tuesdays stand apart and hold a special place in my heart.
A Personal Reflection
After spending the weekend in a state of gloom and indulging in copious amounts of food and binge-watching TV shows, I find myself looking forward to Mondays. For me, Mondays signify discipline and order, something I hold in high regard. The sanctuary of work provides a structured environment that is less distanced from my personal values compared to the norm among the working class. Monday represents the order I seek in my life, and it brings a zealous excitement that carries through the week, including Tuesday.
Though I may be jobless, the fear of unemployment and the existence of meaninglessness contribute to my attachment to the routine. The monotony of work is a form of stability that contrasts sharply with the hollowness of my unfulfilled life. The excitement derived from the Monday effect evokes a warm, inexplicable sensation, unlike the rest of the world which seems to lag behind. I find belonging on Tuesdays as I interact with others and feel a part of the crowd. It is a subtle victory despite the daily struggle.
Conclusion
The inherent meaning attached to each day, whether through spiritual practice or personal rituals, lends a unique significance to Tuesday for me. Whether it is the day of Anjaneya or the day that allows me to rekindle the order of my life, Tuesday remains a day of joy and belonging.
