Turning Points in Life: Lessons from Real Experiences

Meeting the Right Person

A major turning point in my life was when I met and married my husband. What changed after that was that I had a friend I could trust, someone to talk to and share life with through both good and bad times. While our married life hasn’t been perfect, it’s been a lot of fun most of the time. As we age, things are getting tougher, but knowing we have each other gives us strength to cope with the challenges.

Finding Myself

Too me, one of the most significant turning points was when I had to face the consequences of my actions as a result of falling out of a tree in my youth, which left me crippled. Before this incident, I was a free spirit, and a family member who had always criticized my desire for freedom didn't show much sympathy. I was scolded and even told to leave the family home. This experience was a sad realization that I was on a path that might spell out being a fugitive, but traveling and connecting with myself was so worth it.

Growing into a Man

Another turning point in my life came when I was kicked out of school at the age of 17. It was a wake-up call that I had to step up and be a man or I was going to head nowhere real fast. This event forced me to mature and grow, focusing on practical steps to improve my life.

Overcoming Adversity: From No Career Future to Software Engineer

From having no career future to becoming a Full Stack Web Developer, the journey was far from smooth. Having only a B. Com Hons degree with a poor percentage, due to spending my college life working in my dad’s grocery shop, I faced numerous challenges. However, I didn’t let any obstacles stop me from achieving my goals. I quit my BPO job at an MNC due to dissatisfaction and lack of growth opportunities.

I started my journey by enrolling in a diploma course under a university, utilizing the opportunity to learn at a lower cost. Unlike big MNCs, I didn't have any gap in my work history, and I secured knowledge in C, C , databases like MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server. Completing the diploma course, I took on hands-on projects using Java, Core Java, Advanced Spring, Hibernate, and .NET frameworks.

During the pandemic, it was challenging to compete with students who had Computer Science degrees. However, my research led me to realize that .NET jobs could offer the same pay as Java jobs, and they would provide a good alternative in the future. I focused on learning .NET Core, Web API, and related technologies like Angular, TypeScript, and Kendo UI, thereby becoming a full-stack developer and securing an internship position.

Believing in Yourself

These experiences taught me that everyone has their turning points. It's important to believe in yourself and not rely on others to take responsibility for your life. Don’t give up and keep trying. Even with a poor grade percentage, I managed to achieve my goals, and so can anyone else.
