The Tranquil Escape: Why Restrooms Can Be the Best Place for Peace and Tranquility
This may sound very weird, and I apologize, but am I wrong in thinking that the rest room is one of the most peaceful and quietest places to be on earth? Many find it difficult to believe, but I say why not?
My preference is a walk in the woods next to a babbling river or brook. Not being able to hear any cars with my dog, and having nobody around, is the formula for my most peaceful place. However, even my bed gets a nod from time to time.
Personal Choices and Sanctuaries
I believe this comes down to personal choice. If you have found it your sanctuary, then that's wonderful for you. We all need a place that brings a moment of peace and tranquility to recharge.
If you have pets, they will come in with your or complain on the other side of the door. Young children will always find a reason why they need their Mom EVERY time she goes to the bathroom.
Personally, I’ve found my sanctuary in my home in my craft/lounge room. However, I do live in a peaceful position at a motor camp and am rarely disturbed. With a beautiful garden area that affords an infusion of nature, this is where I go to relax. If it gets busy at the camp, I can walk a couple of hundred yards into the bush to a river via a track known only to a handful of people. That’s my ultimate getaway.
A Warm Bed Over a Cold Seat
I prefer a nice warm bed over a cold seat or a tub of cooling water wrinkling my skin. Many great thinkers have workrooms with a warm, soft place to lie down, and all their needed books and equipment.
The Bathroom as a Music Haven
For some, it’s the bathroom where the best music is played. Whether it’s playing my guitar set on the bathtub or sitting on the toilet, some of the best moments of creation have been in the bathroom. Music and tranquility go hand in hand in this space.
Peaceful Gardens and Practical Solutions
In the flower and vegetable garden alone is the most peaceful place for me, until fire ants and mosquitoes interfere, then it’s the bathroom where the medicine cabinet holds bite remedies. Practical solutions to unwelcome creatures are necessary for true peace and tranquility.
You are absolutely right. The loo is the place I go to when the noise of the world becomes too much for me and I need some peace and quiet. I go in, take a book, and sit against the radiator to de-stress. Well, I try to de-stress anyway.
Conclusion: While some may find peace in nature or a cozy bed, the restroom can indeed be a tranquil escape. Whether it’s from noise, daily distractions, or a place to decompress, the bathroom can offer the quiet and peace we so desperately seek.
