The Silent Struggle: Why People Continue to Suffer from Mental Illness Despite Available Resources

Why Do People Continue to Suffer from Mental Illness Despite the Intense Burden on Loved Ones and the Public Health System?
It is often due to a lack of understanding and connection between the body, the mind, and the soul. If only more individuals knew about the complex interplay of these three aspects, they could reverse the situation using alternative treatments and herbs, rather than just relying on modern medicine and institutions. However, due to a lack of awareness and the disconnection in the body and mind, or energy blocks caused by inadequate lifestyle choices, the suffering persists even when knowledge exists.

Understanding the Disconnect

The stark reality is that many symptoms can be reversed. I have seen patients who, with the right knowledge, saw considerable improvement. However, a year or two later, they revert to their previous state. Why? The answer lies in the disconnect between their body, mind, and soul and the energy blocks caused by poor lifestyle and diet choices. The environment and food combinations that feed negativity are often overlooked, yet they play a significant role in the perpetuation of mental illness.

Social Expectations and Personal Struggles

Being unable to conform to societal norms contributes significantly to the suffering of many. Society has created a mold of perfection, and not fitting this mold, whether in thought, speech, or behavior, can cause immense personal turmoil. This judgment and lack of acceptance by both others and oneself can lead to a sense of alienation, which exacerbates mental health issues. For me, recognizing that my experiences and reactions differ from the norm has improved my quality of life. I still face challenges, but embracing my differences has made a significant positive impact.

The Dark Side of Modern Treatments

Treatments like medications, which aim to chemically manipulate behavior into societal norms, can have severe side effects. These treatments often cause physical pain or debilitating conditions, contributing to ongoing suffering. While these treatments may provide temporary relief, the long-term effects can be detrimental to physical health. The instinctual need to fit in and be accepted drives many to make these sacrifices, but this comes at a significant cost.

Suffering: A Universal Experience

It is important to acknowledge that suffering is not unique to those with mental illness. Everyone experiences challenges and pain at some point. Suffering is a subjective experience and varies from person to person. The pain I feel from autoimmune conditions is as much of a burden as mental illness. The term 'suffering' encompasses a wide range of experiences, from physical pain to emotional distress.

Personal Responsibility and the Quest for Ease and Dis-ease

As my father taught me, we are each responsible for our own ease and dis-ease. A more profound question to ponder is 'why do anyone have to suffer so much?' This inquiry invites us to reflect on the underlying causes of suffering and explore ways to mitigate it. By fostering a deeper understanding of the body, mind, and soul, and working towards a healthier lifestyle, we can reduce the suffering not just of ourselves but also of those around us.
