What is the Strangest Animal Attack?
As a seasoned adventurer and occasional fisherman, I have thankfully dodged any direct animal attacks. However, the day I batted away a mosquito, albeit an unusually large one, was a close call. I was fishing in the Catawba River in western North Carolina. It was a beautiful day in late fall, and the trout were excited about a little kernal corn. As I pulled in trout one after the other, out of nowhere, a giant mosquito lit on my left forearm, and in what felt like slow motion, she bit right up until she was sated.

A peculiar incident occurred during a visit to Cuba in which I found myself face-to-face with an iguana. At the time, I was recovering from a broken ankle and using crutches, which surprisingly became my weapon of choice to scare the iguana away. The staff at the resort still find it hilarious, and bystanders couldn't help but laugh at the scene. While the encounter didn't cause any harm, it certainly left a memorable impression.
