The Allure of Twilight: A Personal Exploration
I live and work at night, from 3:00 AM until noon, and sleep from 1:00 to 10:00 PM. During the rest of my time, I stay awake, have my breakfast, chores, and do various stuff, then commute on an empty freeway at 2:00 AM. However, if I had to pick between sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night, it would undoubtedly be twilight!!! It is there in the gloaming and dusk that day turns to night, and the magic quickens.
My Perspective on Nighttime
At night, I hate sunlight. I hate the high temperature and the large number of people. More people mean more stupid things will happen, and I hate traffic. I've lived at night for 10 years.
Exploring Twilight
In contrast, I love twilight. Twilight is when the whole night is ahead of me. I also enjoy the ambient effects during twilight. Additionally, the TV series The Twilight Zone fascinates me. The original, the 1980s remake, and the 2019 remake - I'm particularly excited about the new episodes, especially considering the initial three episodes are already out!!!. I'm also a fan of the radio shows for newcomers to discover.
Prefer Night Over Twilight
For sure, I prefer night over twilight. Daytime is an irritation, filled with people walking around making noise and the hustle and bustle. The sun beats down rudely, shining in your face, reflecting off of things, and making the day unpleasant. Ugh, so many distractions exist during the day, not just material ones like business calls, texting, etc., but also distractions of the soul. The sunlight makes it easier to ignore yourself and the truths about who you are and the world you live in, easier to laugh away your problems with a group of acquaintances. However, at night, the world sleeps, and the quiet settles – the truth sets in. There's no one to save you, no distractions, no loud noises – only you and your thoughts, doubts, hopes, and fears in the darkness.
Seeking Beauty in the Night
To me, there's a certain beauty in the night that you could never see in daylight. It's like the night is the place where I was meant to exist. I'm at my most imaginative and energetic at night. I do all my best thinking and best work at night. I love the quiet light of the full moon, the still and cool air, and the shadows of mystery. The night is the place where I feel most 'me'.
Nightly Activities and Benefits
I recently started going on nightly bike rides, sometimes till around midnight or 1 AM to my town centre, which is very busy during the day but extremely peaceful at night. Riding my bike is immensely satisfying, going fast without worrying about people in my way. The contrast of the pitch-black sky and man-made lights is very pretty, making me feel like I'm on holiday somewhere.
In summary, the allure of twilight, night, and even the ride in the dark are all deeply intertwined with my personal preferences and creative inspiration. Whether it's the isolation, the unique beauty, or the peace and quiet, the evening and night hours bring a sense of self that is hard to find in the daylight.
