Relaxing Friday and Saturday Nights: My Routine and Recommendations
As the week winds down, setting aside time for relaxation and self-care becomes more important. For me, Fridays and Saturdays bring a much-needed break from the everyday hustle, and here's how I like to unwind.
Personal Zen for a Night In
Weekend nights at home can be a perfect opportunity for a little personal TLC. Whether it's savoring some American Asian cuisine with a glass of wine, or curling up with a good book, I focus on creating a calm environment that soothes my mind. Watching self-care vlogs is also a fantastic way to unwind; they are often soothing and help set the perfect mood.
Soothing Activities and Self-Care
For me, self-care isn't just about the physical; it's also about the mental and emotional aspect. Watching comfort cinema or re-reading a favorite book is a great way to psychoanalyze my own thoughts and feelings. In a relationship, quality time with a partner, like sharing a bottle of wine and a chat, makes for a perfect evening. Interspersing this with outdoor activities like watching meteor showers by starting up the fire pit also adds a unique charm.
Son's Company for Joyful No-Shows
When it comes to fatherhood, incorporating my son adds a whole new layer of relaxation. Whether we are sitting around enjoying some Fortnite or Grand Theft Auto online, watching a movie together, or even just making dinner and popcorn, these moments are precious. Sometimes, if the weather permits, we enjoy the fire pit and the outdoors, making it a memorable evening for us both.
Before Family Life
Before having sons, movies and takeout were my go-to choices when I had free time. Whether it was a Shanghai takeout or a Sicilian pizza from Ginos of Long Beach, pairing these with friends on a Friday or Saturday night made for enjoyable evenings. I had to be constantly on the go, playing gigs, seeing fellow bands, or traveling, which left me with minimal time to relax at home.
Current Relaxed Routine
Nowadays, weekends are more about recharging than going out. I tend to prefer television on a Friday or Saturday night over the programming running on those days. Sometimes, engaging in a quiet night in, watching movies or re-reading favorite books, is exactly what I need. The choice of activity is ultimately about finding peace and tranquility in one's home environment.
