Reflections on Life Changes Over the Last Five Years: Nostalgia and Future Concerns
Introduction: The Sense of Nostalgia and the Passage of Time
I know it's too late to turn back time, but thinking about what I could do five years ago that I can no longer do now is both nostalgic and concerning. For example, working at a carnival seemed like a regular possibility back then, but now that job is too pressing. That's just one of many changes that reflect the passage of time and the evolution of my personal life.
Bodily Changes and Health
Five years ago, I could walk long distances without exhausting myself, whereas nowadays, even a short walk can be tiring. The solitude of a nursing home can be quietly debilitating, affecting our physical health in profound ways. Beyond physical changes, other significant personal milestones have shifted. For instance, having a panic attack due to anxiety is less of a concern now, having been healed from the source of the anxiety.
Loss and Change of Habits
Other notable changes include the loss of a beloved grandmother, something a bit morbid but also a reminder of the fragility of life. Five years ago, I did not experience pandemic lockdowns, and I could go out on a date whenever I wanted. Today, things are vastly different.
Warmth and Memories of the Past
Five years ago, I could travel to the beach with my wife whenever we felt like it, and we would take the entire family to Disney for more than a few days. Yet, now these activities no longer hold the same allure. The list of things we could do then is long, and now... the enthusiasm is predominantly non-existent.
Loss of Freedom and Privacy
Five years ago, I believed everything I heard on nightly news, thinking it was above spreading lies. Now, I realize our privacy and freedoms were already lost, but to what extent they have been abused is shocking. Governments and corporations have extensively experimented on all aspects of our lives, manipulating and controlling us. The 99% of us who are not part of the elite are aware of this, but most people are still blind to it, believing all the propaganda.
Technological Experiments and Future Concerns
There is growing concern about the use of vast amounts of data mined from citizens. While these same sources claim they can create a beautiful world, the real purpose is deeper control. Banks have been instructed to close branches and promote digital transactions, while governments are closing self-service checkouts and promoting card payments only. This shift is not about cost savings but about controlling people's lives. With the economy in a downturn, the lack of cash and the push for a cashless society are just distractions. The real issue is that billions are evaporating, and the young are being pushed towards welfare, creating a cycle of dependence and economic instability.
Conclusion: A Call for Awareness and Action
At 69, with a more tech-savvy mind surmounting that of the young, I see further down the road than many. The future is dark, with several years still to come. The push for a cashless society is just one facet of a wider project to control and manipulate human behavior. We must remain vigilant to prevent these nefarious practices.
