Preferred Activities on Lazy Sunday Afternoons in September
While the thought of watching football may sound tempting on a lazy Sunday afternoon in September, there are countless other activities to enjoy. From taking a leisurely walk in the park to indulging in a cozy nap with family or friends, there are plenty of ways to make the most of a fall day without the hassle of advertisements!
Football or Other Alternatives?
For many, football is the quintessential Sunday activity. However, for me, it’s all about finding something else to do. In fact, the endless number of advertisements during football games leaves me feeling frustrated. I might watch a high school or college game occasionally, but the National Football League (NFL) doesn't hold much sway. If teams aren't showing mutual respect for the flag and national anthem, they don’t deserve my support.
Quality Time with Friends and Family
Since Sunday afternoons are often the time when I have the most leisure on my hands, my girlfriend and I usually spend them together. We might work on college assignments, snuggle up on the couch, or watch a movie. Personal interactions play a crucial role, whether it's talking, laughing, or simply enjoying each other's company. Unintentional naps while hanging out together are among the best experiences of the day.
Relaxing and Enjoying Life
Most days in September, I find myself engaging in a variety of relaxing activities such as reading, writing, or watching a TV series. Leisurely activities like playing Dungeons and Dragons, browsing the internet, walking the dog, and playing with a cat or squirrels provide great entertainment. If it's a weekend, I might join in on a free college concert, visit neighboring neighbors, or partake in discussions about local Native American culture or current events on Quora.
The Latest Grand Final
Currently, the upcoming Grand Final has been postponed to Saturday, which means there won’t be any football on the coming Sunday. However, the idea of watching a replay of the match is intriguing. As someone who is not overly invested in sports, I just don't find them particularly interesting. Instead, I try to make the best of other activities that can fill my Sunday afternoon.
Autumn in New England
Autumn in New England is a magical season, and there are ample activities to savor the beauty of September. Walking around the park or reading a book in a cozy corner offers a break from daily life. Fresh crisp air and the delightful scents from the nearby wild apple trees provide a serene atmosphere. I often play with our cat, observe squirrels, and engage in conversations with neighbors.
Participating in local events such as seasonal concerts or discussions about Native American culture can further enrich the experience. Some churches host events with non-perishable food donations. Lately, I have spent more time reflecting and observing life, chatting with missionaries and other faith groups about their journeys. Reflecting on these interactions has allowed me to appreciate the beauty of the season and the privilege of just being.
Leaf Peeping and Spectacular Views
The changing colors of the leaves are a wonderful sight during this time of year. A drive through the area offers breathtaking views for about a month until the leaves reach their peak. The first heavy rain usually brings an end to the colorful display, but the scenery is absolutely stunning. However, it's a good idea to remain vigilant as tourists driven by their desire to see the fall foliage often cause distractions on the roads. Living in a picturesque area, it's a real privilege to witness and experience the beauty of God's creation.
