There were several instances where school policies were blatantly disregarded. One example was a 15-year-old girl being regularly picked up by her 25-year-old boyfriend, raising questions about appropriate behavior and age-based relationships. These events, while not uncommon, may have posed issues that warranted adult intervention, yet they remained unchecked at the time.

Discipline and safety procedures were sometimes curiously applied. For example, a student spontaneously pulling out a head of celery or bag of carrots and eating them in class, while harmless, showed a disregard for the expected control of classroom activities. Another instance involved a student with nunchucks assaulting three other students, after which the student fled the campus. Similarly, attempts to bring tasers to school and incidents of a male student trying to blend into an all-girls PE class at the gym further highlighted the need for clear guidelines and enforcement of school policies.
