My Academic Journey: Curiosity, Passion, and Aspirations

My Academic Journey: Curiosity, Passion, and Aspirations

From my formative years, I cultivated a deep-seated curiosity about the world around me. This intrinsic thirst for knowledge guided my academic choices and set the foundation for my future pursuits. My journey through high school subjects, later guiding me to an offer from Oxford University, was a blend of rigor and passion.

High School and University Preparation

I woke up early at 4 AM every day, dedicating half an hour to meditation to center my mind and start the day with clarity. Before delving into any subject, I questioned the 'why' behind the concepts. This approach not only enhanced my understanding but also made it easier to retain information during exams. I crafted a personalized study schedule, broke my study sessions into manageable intervals, and took breaks to avoid burnout.

I found physics and mathematics particularly engaging, subjects that fueled my interest in engineering from a young age. However, I also discovered that these subjects required rigorous preparation and deep exploration to thoroughly understand their complexities. For instance, the subject of Low Energy Nuclear Physics kept me captivated and challenged my mental capacities.

Academic Interests Beyond the Core Subjects

My academic journey extended beyond the basics to include subjects that piqued my curiosity about the world and human behavior. I studied Business Management and Psychology, which provided me with a comprehensive view of business organization and the inner workings of human minds. Business management offered a deep understanding of how various components of an organization fit together, while psychology offered insights into human behavior, enabling me to work effectively in crisis management, suicide prevention, and private therapy.

Furthermore, my interest in film and video communications led me to develop a unique plan that involves helping individuals experience the beauty of films. Even during a period of personal strife, such as a divorce, the passion for film communications remained a joyous escape and creatively fulfilling endeavor.

Choosing Construction Management

Initially, I pursued Civil Engineering with the assumption that it was a higher degree than a Construction Management degree. However, after reflection, I realized that I desired to build rather than design. Construction Management offered a practical approach to building structures and understanding the real-world application of design principles. The curriculum included many courses on structural design, which taught me about design and how to assess structural plans. While I wouldn't be directly designing the structures, the construction management program equipped me with the skills to manage and build them effectively.

Conclusion

My academic journey has been a dynamic mix of curiosity, passion, and hard work. The subjects I studied, from physics and mathematics to business management and psychology, have all contributed to shaping my understanding of the world and my future aspirations. As I continue on this path, I am excited to apply these learnings in real-world scenarios and contribute to fields that align with my interests and values.
