Is It True that Most Australians Support Trump/Republican Party? And If Yes, Why?

Most Australians are sane, so as such, we cannot understand how anyone with normal cognitive abilities can support Trump in the USA or anywhere else. It is completely untrue. In fact, the truth is that almost nobody outside the USA supports Mr. Trump. To most of us outside the USA, it is almost incomprehensible that roughly half the voters in the USA still seem to support Mr. Trump. What the fuck is wrong with Americans?

Understanding Australian Political Opinion

It is important to recognize that Australians have a different perspective on global politics. Unlike some countries where domestic politics often dictate international stance, Australian views tend to be more detached. Australians view the US presidency as a matter of internal US politics rather than a matter of international significance.

Australians, by and large, will respect the fact that Mr. Trump was elected to the position of President of the United States by means of the American form of democracy, despite having some misgivings about that form. Mr. Trump is President of the USA, not Australia. Many Australians take the position that it means little to them who is President of the USA, with the exception of foreign trade and defence policy. However, what the President does in the USA is of no direct concern to most Australians.

Assessment of Australian Support for Trump

My belief is that most Australians do not really care about the US presidential election, and would prefer Kamala Harris as the winner. If you were to ask the average Australian, they would likely say that US politics is none of their business. It is not surprising that few Australians would express strong support for Mr. Trump. Many Australians might view him as a boorish oaf, or simply as a political figure who is no longer relevant to their lives.

Shiphin Pin, a correspondent, notes that even among those who do engage with US politics, there is often a more balanced view. Many Australians who are politically engaged will adopt the stance that Mr. Trump's election was a result of the American democratic process, and his administration is carrying out its election promises. At the same time, many Australians are concerned with the conduct of a large number of American citizens and its impact on the USA's world leadership, which does affect Australia.

Media and Perception

A significant factor in Australian perception of US politics is media influence. Australian media often reflect the views presented by American media. For instance, Mr. Trump's style of leadership has been criticized by the American news media, and this critical perspective has been adopted by many Australian news outlets as well. This means there is a fairly well-balanced view of Mr. Trump here. Those who identify as "progressives" take the news media perspective and criticize Mr. Trump's administration, and those who identify as "conservatives" support Mr. Trump's policies.

It is important to note that Australia has its own domestic concerns and priorities, and these often take precedence over US politics. While there may be some individual Australians who hold strong views on the US presidency, the majority do not see it as a topic of significant interest or concern.

In conclusion, it is not accurate to say that most Australians support Mr. Trump or the Republican Party. Most Australians prefer to remain unengaged in US politics, and view it as a matter of internal US democracy rather than a matter of international significance.
