How to Add Jewish Holidays to Your Google Calendar
Google Calendar is an indispensable tool for organizing events and holidays. To include Jewish holidays in your calendar, follow these steps to ensure you stay on top of essential observances and celebrations.
Adding Jewish Holidays to Google Calendar via the Web Interface
Open Google Calendar: Start by going to Google Calendar and logging into your account.
Settings: Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select Add Calendar.
Select Holidays: In the left sidebar, look for the Select Holidays option. Scroll down to the Save Changes button.
Save Changes: Your calendar will automatically update to include the selected Jewish holidays.
You should now see the Jewish holidays displayed on your Google Calendar. Customize notifications for these events if desired.
Adding Jewish Holidays to Google Calendar via the Google Calendar App
Open the Google Calendar App: Launch the Google Calendar app on your mobile device.
Menu: In the top left, tap the Menu icon.
Settings: Tap Settings.
Holidays: Tap Holidays to add religious holidays, including Jewish holidays.
Enabling the Hebrew Calendar
Settings: Go to the Settings menu and click on the General tab.
Select Calendar: Choose the Hebrew calendar as an Alternate calendar. The Hebrew calendar is lunisolar, meaning it bases its months on lunar cycles and its years on solar cycles.
Manually Adding the Hebrew Calendar via URL
If the Jewish holidays or Hebrew calendar is not available in the public directory, you can add it manually by using the URL:
Google Calendar: Go to your Google Calendar.
Settings: Click on the gear icon and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
Add Calendar: On the next page, on the left-hand side, click Add calendar.
URL: Enter the URL of the Hebrew calendar you are currently using, such as:
Add Calendar: Click Add Calendar to add it to your Google Calendar.
If you encounter difficulties, Google Calendar may no longer display the Hebrew calendar in the public directory. However, you can still add it manually.
