Hobbies I Gave Up but Wish I Could Revive

As individuals grow and age, it's not uncommon to see our hobbies and interests change. Whether it's due to new opportunities, other commitments, or simply time constraints, some of the cherished pastimes may be left behind. Reflecting on these lost hobbies can often provide a reminder of the joy and fulfillment they once brought to our lives. Let's explore some of the hobbies I gave up but wish I could revive.

Art: Drawing and Anime Characters

During my childhood, drawing was one of my most cherished hobbies. I would regularly attend drawing workshops and classes, eager to explore my creativity and hone my skills. However, as I grew older, the passion for drawing gradually faded. Although I still enjoy doodling, particularly for anime characters, I regret not pursuing it more seriously. Recently, I found myself revisiting drawing prompts on my smartphone, but the urge to draw complex anime characters as I once did has waned. The nostalgia and sense of accomplishment from those early days make me wonder if I could breathe new life into my old hobby.

Musical Diversity: Piano to Guitar

Another hobby that lost its way was playing the piano. In my early years, I often played two pianos in school events, finding joy in the melodies and experimenting with new compositions. Unfortunately, life took a different turn, and I decided to focus on the guitar, which has become a significant part of my musical journey. I still remember the thrill of playing the piano, but the skill has faded with time. Occasionally, I pick up the piano, trying to rekindle that passion, but the memories and skills seem to slip away. It's a reminder of how much I miss the old days and the endless possibilities that the piano offered.

Avid Collector: Coin Collecting

There was a peculiar hobby from my childhood that intrigued me: collecting coins. Near my house, there was a temple, and outside it sat beggars with neatly stacked coins. This sparked a fascination that led me to collect coins for stacking purposes. It was a fun activity, but over time, the habit faded. Even though the thrill isn't as strong anymore, I often wonder what would have happened if I continued with this hobby. Perhaps I could build coin albums or, even better, find unique coins to add to a collection. The ritualistic aspect of collecting coins brings a sense of accomplishment and beauty, which I wish to reclaim.

Gameplay and Beyond: A Journey Through Hobbies

From trampoline jumping to computer programming and beyond, there have been many hobbies that I embarked on but ultimately abandoned. Some, like trampoline jumping and parachute jumping, were relegated to the past due to the dangers involved. Others, such as fishing and badminton, have fallen by the wayside due to practical limitations. Artistic pursuits like song and poetry writing and visual hobbies like photomontage have been stunted by obstacles like obsessed views on YouTube and the difficulty in staying current with technology. There are also the more recent pastimes like videography and gaming, which, despite high investment and effort, have not yielded the satisfaction I desired.

Reflecting on these hobbies, I realize that it's never too late to reignite the old flames. Whether it's dusting off my drawing supplies, practicing the piano, or collecting coins, there's still a part of my past that yearns to be explored. It's a reminder of the continuous journey of self-discovery and the endless possibilities that lie within our lives.
