High IQs, Abstract Minds, and Simple Pleasures: Debunking the Common Myths
Do people with extremely high IQs feel as though they’re missing out on simple pleasures because they can’t relate to normal people anymore? The answer to this common myth is quite different from what many might expect.
The Social and Engaging Nature of High IQ Individuals
No. High IQ people I know are among the most social and involved people who have a lot of friends who are proud to know them. There are some weirdos who have caught public attention, but I’m guessing the majority of highly intelligent people are very well-adjusted.
A Deeper Look at Intellectual Pursuits and Joy
I believe people with high IQs don’t see the joy in mundane stuff. They are more abstract in their thoughts and crave idealism. This perspective is based on my personal experience. For someone with a high IQ, the pursuit of knowledge and understanding can be deeply rewarding, often leading to a different kind of joy.
Do They Dismiss Everyday Enjoyments?
Watching movies or comedies is not a simple pleasure for high IQ individuals. Movies in general portray ordinary people, and if you watch television, you can see or hear as much ordinary people as much time you spend before the TV screen. Comedies often show how stupid human beings can be, and this is what makes you laugh. For a high IQ individual, finding humor in such stereotypes might be challenging.
A Complex Perspective on Intelligence
Intelligence is often overemphasized in the study of human behavior. Overall human behavior is more complicated than just IQ. More studies are badly needed to understand the multifaceted nature of human behavior.
Missed Experiences or Not?
There is no 'any more.' They aren’t missing what they may never have experienced because they have been smart all their lives. They may not want to relate to less-intelligent people, finding them either silly or boring. High IQ individuals often seek out environments and interactions that challenge their minds and provide a deeper sense of fulfillment.
Defining Normality in Today’s Society
The term 'normal people' that I haven't heard in a while. As I believe, normal these days are toxic. I am normal as normal is to be confident to be yourself and not kiss ass to the ruling leaders. This viewpoint suggests that the concept of normality has undergone significant changes, and what is considered 'normal' may not align with positive values and self-reflection.
Conclusion
High IQ individuals are not isolated or disconnected from the simple joys of life. While their cognitive skills and thought processes may be more complex, they can still appreciate and enjoy the mundane aspects of life in their own way. The key is to recognize that intelligence and enjoyment of life are not mutually exclusive, but rather can coexist in diverse and meaningful ways.
