Has Social Distancing Enhanced My Awareness of Surroundings?

Has social distancing helped you to become more aware of your surroundings? This question has been on many minds as the world continues to navigate the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic. For some, heightened awareness has indeed been a positive outcome of the current situation. Let's explore the journey of one individual who has always had a heightened sense of awareness and how social distancing has further enhanced it.

Background and Personal Journey

Having been hyper-aware since my early days, my journey with situational awareness began long before the global pandemic. For instance, in 1978, I started researching the common cold and flu. By 1996, my first publication on the topic was well-received. In 2015, I continued my research, and by December 2019, I had comprehensive knowledge about coronavirus and its immunological processes.

My book, KILL THE CORONAVIRUS, was published in March, and subsequent science has proven my research to be accurate and valuable. However, despite my early insights, modern science is still struggling to keep up, and people continue to die around the world while others risk billions of lives by denying the effectiveness of my research.

Situational Awareness and Personal Hygiene

I've always had situational awareness, carrying hand sanitizers for decades, due to the six children I've raised and my personal bathroom hygiene practices. After being groped in a crowded situation at a young age, I developed a natural aversion to large crowds, and I've become adept at requesting personal space, even sternly if needed.

The only positive aspect of wearing masks has been the masking of bad breath from those with poor dental hygiene, although this is a secondary benefit.

The Impact of Social Distancing

While social distancing has had minimal impact on my rural life, it has brought about significant changes in societal behavior. The question of whether it has enhanced my awareness of surroundings is a complex one, given the varied nature of human experiences.

For me, life as a lifelong observer of others and my surroundings has been a constant state of high alert. However, the current situation has indeed made me even more aware of things occurring around myself. Large segments of society are now conducting themselves differently than they did pre-virus, and this is often encouraging.

Changes in Societal Behavior and Awareness

People are becoming more aware of climate and surrounding issues. Many have been awakened to the realities faced by others around the world. Traffic has significantly decreased in my area and the nearby city, a welcome environmental change for a lifelong environmentally concerned person like me.

There is a noticeable slowdown in people's behavior, with fewer in a rush than before. This shift has made me more appreciative of the small things in life. People seem a bit more caring than in the past, though this is more evident in my rural community. In urban areas, the changes are even more apparent, with far fewer people out and about, impacting businesses and the local economy.

Future Implications

Change has begun on a worldwide scale, and if humanity can awaken to the potential for large-scale positive change, we can make significant progress. Given the proper motivation, we can address global issues and enhance our collective well-being.

Final Thoughts

The current situation has pushed us to re-evaluate our behaviors and priorities. As we move forward, it's crucial to maintain this heightened awareness to address challenges like climate change, social inequalities, and public health.

It is through such awareness and continuous vigilance that we can build a better, more sustainable future. If you're interested in learning more about my experiences and insights, my book KILL THE CORONAVIRUS is available on Amazon.
