Gratitude and Positivity: Reflections on the Past Year

As we reflect on the past year, it's essential to identify and celebrate the positive moments that have enriched our lives. While 2023 may not have been dramatically different for me in terms of personal life compared to previous years, there are still numerous reasons to be grateful. In this article, I will share three things that I am thankful for, drawing from both the personal and professional aspects of my life.

1. A Memorable Chess Victory at a Young Age

One incident that stands out is a chess match I participated in during my early teenage years. The event unfolded at a crucial time when Regionals of various sports were taking place. Two girls approached our class and asked if anyone was interested in playing chess. Energetically, I jumped from my seat and excitedly said, 'I do!' Hearing this, my friends and sister couldn't help but exclaim, 'Take her away, take her away, she talks about this all the time.'

Proud of my enthusiasm, I headed to the school playground to participate. A new sports teacher informed the participants of an upcoming competition, stating that the winner would be given a prominent position. I played against nine to eleven other girls, and to my disbelief, I won all of them. The teacher was impressed and wrote my name down, marking me as the winner.

The surprise victory was such that I literally felt like I was flying, so much so that I went on an 'airplane pose' through the crowded school corridor. To my sister's skepticism, I confidently announced, 'It happened! I won!' And my sister agreed, exclaiming, 'It did, Yessssss!'

At that moment, the visibly happy teacher in the class cheered with us, adding to the excitement. While this accomplishment might seem small, to that 12-year-old girl, it was a massive leap forward. This was the first of many chess tournaments and competitions that followed, marking the beginning of a journey that would bring me closer to mastering the game.

2. The Health and Stability of Loved Ones

Beyond personal achievements, I am grateful for the stability and well-being of those close to me. My son's decision to start a family of his own and watch his little family thrive brings immense joy. I am also thankful for the solid support and friendship network I have, especially during challenging times. These relationships have grown stronger due to the challenges we have faced together.

This year, I made a significant life change by deciding to work part-time, drastically cutting down my workload. This decision has provided me with more free time to focus on personal interests and well-being. It has also allowed me to deepen my commitment to spirituality and meditation, which are essential for physical and mental health.

3. Living in a Beautiful Country

Gratitude also extends to the privilege of residing in a beautiful country surrounded by stunning beaches and diverse natural landscapes. Being able to disconnect from work and disconnect from the fast-paced world has been incredibly restorative. This environment has allowed me to reconnect with nature and find inner peace.

Moreover, the current stable situation in the country has brought a sense of security and contentment, knowing that I have a reliable support system and resources available to me.

In conclusion, while 2023 has not been dramatically different from previous years, it has been filled with meaningful moments and positive changes. Taking time to reflect on these blessings can help us maintain a more positive outlook and approach the future with optimism.
