Food and Canteen Preferences at Banasthali Vidyapeth

Ritu, on this side. The quality of food in the mess at Banasthali Vidyapeth varies based on personal taste. Generally, the food is spicy, but it depends on individual preferences.

Breakfast at Banasthali Mess

Breakfast consists of light and healthy options such as pohauttapmdaliya available daily, ajwayn Puri with achar, sprouts, and other light meals. These offerings are easily digestible and nutritious.

Lunch at Banasthali Mess

During lunch, you can find roti, rice, and curd available daily, along with options for rayta like banana rayta, bundi rayta, and cucumber rayta. Daal is often served, and if you wish to add ghee to your meal, you can either bring it from the market or your own home as it is not available in the mess.

Special Tuesday Lunch at Banasthali Mess

Every Tuesday, the mess offers a delightful spread, including Puri rayta, sweets such as kheer, and fig-based sweets. The food resembles a banquet, making it a treat for students.

Evening Refreshments at Banasthali

The evening refreshments are a mix of snacks and light meals. Options include idli, sambhar, chowmin, Maggie, pao bhaji, tikki, papd, and biscuits, as well as tea. These are served daily, providing variety for students to choose from.

Dinner at Banasthali Mess

Dinner follows a similar pattern to lunch, with roti, rice, one vegetable, and daal. Occasionally, new experiment vegetables are introduced to keep the menu exciting. On Fridays, a special Rajma with achar is served for dinner.

Tasteless Meals and Variance

Sometimes, you might experience tasteless meals during the weekend due to unavailability of certain ingredients in the mess. However, you have the flexibility to manage your meals by bringing your own ingredients or meals. For instance, I once made yellow rice using simple rice from the mess and added my preferred masalas.

Availability of Good Food at Banasthali

While Tuesday is notable for its delicious meals, the mess does provide good food during festivals. For example, during Navratras, special festival meals are offered. You can also opt to eat mess food in your room or change the food's taste by using an induction cooker.

Banasthali Canteens

There are five canteens available on campus. Two markets, the old market and the new market, are situated. The new market is closer to my hostel, and I enjoyed it with friends. Canteen rates are reasonable for both students and guests. During admissions, some canteen owners might mention higher rates, but this is resolved with the assistance of the guest house manager.

Benefits of Banasthali Canteens

The canteens offer an extensive variety of food, snacks, shakes, cold drinks, and cakes. I especially enjoyed celebrating my birthday with friends and receiving warm wishes from the canteen staff. There is no compulsion to have only Tuesday’s good food; you can relish amazing meals during festivals too. If you wish to vary your meal, you can use an induction cooker to make different dishes.

While there are some restrictions, they are occasional. I strongly believe that if you are willing to adapt, you can handle everything at Banasthali. The same environment with the same friends and teachers makes it a unique and memorable experience.

Finally, I extend my warmest wishes to all for an enjoyable time at Banasthali Vidyapeth. If you need more information, feel free to reach out!
