Exploring the Joys of Going Out: Personal Experiences and Insights
When we are young, we are energized by the thrill of new experiences and the excitement of trying out different activities. As we grow older, our preferences change. This article sheds light on the various activities that people enjoy during their evenings, ranging from enjoying nature to engaging in social events. We will explore personal stories and insights to help you understand the different ways people spend their leisure time.
Activities and Pastimes
For many, the evening holds a range of activities that bring joy and relaxation. From exploring new cafes and enjoying different types of food to engaging in physical activities such as jogging and playing soccer, the evening provides a perfect opportunity for fun and relaxation.
As we age, our preferences also shift. For instance, in the 30s, spending time with neighbors in Thailand was a significant favorite, fostering meaningful connections and understanding cultural nuances.
Today, in our 80s, enjoying leisurely walks in the park, having ice cream with a loved one, or learning about the workplace of a loved one becomes our passion. Engaging in these activities not only brings pleasure but also strengthens interpersonal bonds and provides a sense of meaning in daily life.
Quality Time and Socializing
One of the most cherished activities is dining together, whether it's just the two of us or with close friends. Sharing a leisurely meal lasting 2-3 hours can be an incredible experience. However, it's important to note that if you occupy a table for hours, you might be depriving the wait staff of valuable table turnover and tips. Therefore, it's important to be mindful of your dining duration and possibly share tables with others if necessary.
Nature and Biodiversity
Nature has its own charm and allure, providing us with a peaceful sanctuary to observe the beauty of the world around us. The chirping of birds, singing beautiful songs, can be a source of inspiration. It's a poignant reminder of the beauty and complexity of nature, and a call to reflect on our place in this world.
Dancing and Social Gearing
Dancing, particularly tango, offers a unique form of social engagement. Preparing for these dances involves meticulous grooming and a light meal before engaging in the dance. The atmosphere is vibrant, with different venues hosting 'milongas' filled with energy and cultural significance. Each 'tanda' consists of three songs from the same orchestra, offering a continuous flow of musical enjoyment.
Ladies vie for attention with social interactions, conversation, and mint exchanges, all while enjoying the music and finding new partners. However, as discussed, the current situation due to the COVID-19 emergency, has affected the availability of these milongas temporarily.
Perspectives of an Introvert
Not everyone is an extrovert and enjoys going out. For some, an introvert such as me, the preference is to stay at home. Engaging in solo activities or semi-social events is more comfortable. When I do go out, I usually enjoy activities with one other person, such as attending a concert, play, or lunch. I also take part in card games on a weekly basis. However, plans can change due to unforeseen circumstances, such as the cancelation of a much-expected fair.
After receiving radio reports about potential traffic, parking, and crowds, I tore up tickets and decided to stay home, prioritizing my comfort and well-being. This decision highlights the importance of personal preferences and the impact of external factors on our leisure time.
