Exploring Unique Hobbies and Productive Lockdown Activities
During the lockdown, I discovered a newfound appreciation for downtime as I experimented with various unique hobbies and ways to keep myself engaged. Here are some of the activities I have been enjoying:
Engaging in a Variety of Hobbies
Since lockdown began, I have embraced a range of unconventional hobbies and activities:
Writing: Initially hesitant, I found joy in writing on platforms like Quora. The process has become compulsive, as I now enjoy creating content regularly. Artistic Pursuits: Coloring and drawing have been my go-to activities for relaxation and creativity. Coloring is particularly calming for me, helping me de-stress after long days. Learning the Guitar: I embarked on learning the guitar via online classes. It has been a fulfilling process, and I appreciate the progress I am making. Online Courses: I have taken up some certified courses, which have been both educational and time-efficient. Culinary Adventures: After a long hiatus, I have re-entered the kitchen. I enjoy cooking and baking, dedicating at least one dish per day. Some of my creations include marble cake, paneer tikka pasta, and garlic bread. To Engage with Different Cultures Through Language Learning
One of my most cherished hobbies is learning new languages. I find it immensely enjoyable to use movies as a learning tool. I select movies that I have already watched in English and watch them in another language with subtitles. This technique allows me to focus on the sentences and comprehend the meaning of words within context, making the learning process more effective.
Reviving an Oldest Hobby: 3D Artistry
My long-standing hobby began when 3D movies and comics were at the height of popularity. I remember my brother creating 3D shadows using flashlights and red-cyan 3D glasses. My own 3D drawing adventures started with colored pencils. Recently, I have taken my 3D artistry to a new level by creating anaglyphs—red-cyan 3D pictures—which can be viewed using the right glasses. You can explore my work (and that of many others) on ABArchives, where you need to wear red-cyan glasses to view the images.
Daily Language Learning
I make it a point to learn 10 new words each day, which might sound like a simple task, but it requires diligence and regular practice. This habit not only expands my vocabulary but also keeps my knowledge sharp.
Reflections on Life and Legacy
Another aspect of my daily routine is deep thinking about life and its meaning. To me, life is more than just the absence of death; it is the art of living, an everlasting and continuous journey that transcends time. Each day is an opportunity to build a legacy, and by engaging in bohemian activities, one can create a lasting impact.
Reflecting on these various activities, I find great satisfaction in exploring life’s unknown realms through art, language, and contemplation. Lockdown may have brought unexpected challenges, but it has also gifted me with the opportunity to rediscover and cultivate new hobbies, contributing to a richer and more fulfilling life.
