Personal Reflections on Planning and Resolutions
Some people devote a lot of time and effort to planning and making resolutions for the New Year. However, some individuals prefer not to plan or make resolutions at all. For instance, a retired person might have a unique perspective on this. They often realize that the fruits of past efforts continue to benefit them, and they live in a state of contentment without the need for future planning.
The retired view on planning: 'The only plan I have is to have no plan. The only new year resolution is to have no resolution. I have made plans and resolutions before and none of them worked out. I am now a retired person. I don't need to plan for the future. I have no future, I have only a past. All my plans in the past are bearing fruit and I am living on the benefits of the old plans made years ago. Moreover, this is an age where I have no targets no expectations to fulfill. I can now live for myself as all my responsibilities and commitments to my family, my employers, my customers have been fulfilled and no one ought to have any expectations from me anymore. I am in the last 10 percent... '
New Year's Eve Celebrations at Home
For those who may not be interested in traveling or attending festivals, celebrating at home is a cozy and comfortable alternative. For example, my wife and I planned to go to our favorite restaurant for a New Year's dinner, followed by some dancing and midnight wishes. However, the weather forecast promised up to 6 inches of rain, and we decided to cancel our reservation. Instead, we purchased a nice filet, some swordfish, green grapes, and herring champagne, and planned to have a dinner at home. We might even stay awake till midnight instead of going to a restaurant. It's a unique and personal way to spend the evening.
For New Year's Day, we ordered a large platter of sushi to kick off the year. Sushi is a popular choice for many, as it can be traditional and delicious, making it a great way to start a new year.
As the new year approaches, whether you're planning to attend a festival, travel afar, or celebrate at home, it's important to find a way that makes you happy. Here's to making lasting memories and turning the page to a new chapter.
