The Unbelievable Deeds of a Narcissistic Ex

What happens when the most recent love of your life reveals their true colors? In my experience, it's a parade of deceit, manipulation, and personal attacks. My ex, a narcissistic individual, managed to escalate these acts to extremes, using any means necessary to undermine my life and well-being. Here are some of the craziest and most unbelievable things he did that had a severely negative impact on my existence.

A Laptop Infested with an Ancient Virus

My ex, a master of one-upping, went so far as to infect my brand new laptop with an ancient virus. The virus, known for its obsolescence, was designed in a way that it would activate after a time delay, ensuring he wouldn't be in the vicinity when it happened. This move was particularly malicious since my laptop was less than 2 months old and state-of-the-art, while his was mediocre at best. My laptop, my prized possession, is now in a state of virtual "suicide," and the damage caused would cost more to repair than to replace.

Intended Career Sabotage

He took things even further by intentionally starting a rumor that cost me my career. On a day when I forgot my phone at home and couldn’t retrieve it, he seized the opportunity. Using my phone, he obtained my boss’s girlfriend's phone number and started messaging her, pretending to be me. My ex-dictated a message of apology and confession that I was sleeping with her boyfriend, my boss. Not only is this false, but I am known for my professional and ethical conduct.

When the boss's girlfriend heard this, she demanded my immediate firing. Since letting go of an employee isn't legally permissible, my ex-coordinator chose to lay me off due to a fabricated reason of "lack of work." To keep me from turning him in, he offered me a sum of 5000 dollars and a top-of-the-line laptop. Although I didn't report him, the damage to my reputation could not be undone. I was humiliated and couldn’t return to my workplace, where the rumor had spread like wildfire and severely impacted my career.

Illegal Background Check Under False Premises

Another of his malevolent acts involved a sealed background check. While I was working at a public defenders office, he instructed me to run a background check on a suspect. Ignoring my hesitations and potential legal risks, I complied and reported back with a negative result. However, my ex-spouse informed the suspect, who, unbeknownst to me, was actually an undercover agent for the DOJ. Upon learning the truth, my boss reported me for the illegal act of conducting a sealed background check, a felony. I was fired, and my case was turned over to the BAR association, where I was banned from taking the bar exam for 10 years, severely impacting my career progression.

These experiences have been life-altering, marking a significant shift in my career and personal life. While the violent acts he committed are too painful to revisit, they too are substantial aspects of our tumultuous relationship.
