Does Deku Still Have One For All?

Does Deku Still Have One For All?

Current Status in My Hero Academia

The series has seen Deku's growth and the challenges he faces in mastering this powerful ability. However, as of August 2023, the One For All quirk remains a central part of his character. For the latest developments or events after this date, you should check the latest chapters or episodes of the series.

Usage in Movies

Yes, Deku has used his quirk in the movies. My Hero Academia has three movies released to date:

Two Heroes (2018) Humans Rising (2019) World Heroes' Mission (2021)

In these movies, Deku clearly demonstrates his mastery over his quirk. Given that these movies are chronological and occur after he gained his quirk from All Might, we can see his progression. In Two Heroes, Deku's usage is evident, and by World Heroes' Mission, his control over the quirk is much more refined and powerful.

The Transfer of One For All

There have been instances where the One For All quirk has been discussed or transpired in the series. The transfer of the quirk to others is a significant plot point that adds depth to the story.

Manga Spoilers Ahead

During a fight with All For One (AFO) and his Shigaraki, the quirk's transferability is under scrutiny. In the manga, when Deku confronts AFO Shigaraki, neither management nor AFO himself can take the quirk from Deku. This is due to the fact that the quirk requires a willing transfer or can be seized only if AFO is at his peak strength, overpowering the will of previous users.

During the fight, both Shigaraki and AFO were weakened. As a result, Deku was able to resist and continue to possess the quirk. In another instance, Deku transfers the quirk to Bakugou to win a battle against Nine. Even with the 15-minute transfer, it took several hours to complete. When Deku and Bakugou both lost consciousness, the transfer process was incomplete, and Deku still retained the quirk.

Therefore, despite potential anomalies or instances of external interference, the quirk remains with Deku.

Conclusion

While One For All is a central element in My Hero Academia, the way it is managed and transferred adds layers to the story. As of the latest updates, the quirk still remains with Deku, making him a formidable hero in the series.
