Frosting cupcakes is also a breeze. Using a 1M Wilton open star tip, you can frost two dozen cupcakes in about 20 minutes, making the process efficient and straightforward. However, unlike layer cakes, cupcakes don't require a crumb coat. Simply swirl your frosting and you're done, no need for the extra step.

Experimenting with alternate frosting flavors is also much easier with cupcakes. You can use fillings, jams, pudding, and other ingredients to create unique and varied flavor profiles. This makes it fun to try out different combinations and see what works best.

Transportation and Serving: The Little Extras

Transporting cupcakes is much easier than layer cakes. You can transport them in a single container or box, making it convenient for events or gifting. With layer cakes, you might need to stack them carefully to prevent any damage during transit.

Serving cupcakes doesn't require the same level of preparation as layer cakes. There's no need for a server or flatware, and you can simply serve them on plates or in small boxes. This makes for a simpler and more efficient serving process, ideal for casual get-togethers or everyday snacking.

However, it's worth noting that making large quantities of cupcakes can be more time-intensive. While one large layer cake can feed a lot of people, making the same amount in cupcakes might require preparing many batches. Nevertheless, the convenience and variety that cupcakes offer make them a popular choice for many bakers.
