Being Normal: A Personal Perspective on Growth and Authenticity

Being Normal: A Personal Perspective on Growth and Authenticity

For years, the idea of normality has been a moving target, ever-shifting and often idealized. However, as I reflect on my journey, I've come to realize that normality is not a fixed state but a dynamic one, influenced by our experiences and the society we live in.

The Evolution of Normality

Recently, after a decade marked by intense social challenges and the fragmentation of a once-normal life, I found myself redefining what it means to be normal. The reality is that what once passed as normal may no longer fit the mold, and this change can be liberating.

With time, I’ve seen a shift from the more spiritual to a more grounded and rational perspective. This involves understanding reality as it is, distinguishing real from fictitious, and letting go of what isn’t true. However, being normal also implies accepting that normality is subjective and varies greatly from one society to another.

Unconventional Growth

My human dream character has transformed rapidly, sometimes to the point where others question my age. This speed of growth is inescapable, a testament to the lessons learned through life experiences. Each individual has a unique “signature” shaped by past memories and life’s lessons.

However, from an absolute perspective, I am not a person; I am that which is. This presence transcends personal identity and connects to the fundamental essence of being. While growth matters in its own context, in the grand scheme of things, it is the process of embodying and learning that truly matters. In this embodied state, love and action are one, and that may be the purpose behind all forms of embodiment.

The Importance of Authenticity

Despite these transformations, seeking perfection isn’t essential in life. Instead, it is being in an action mode, constantly trying and falling that defines the journey. Enlightenment, much like graduating from school, isn’t so much about reaching a predetermined goal but about the process of growth and understanding.

Moreover, the path of being your true self is not to be underestimated, as it often means letting go of society’s expectations and not seeking the approval of others. This realization came relatively late in my life, but it underscored the importance of authenticity over societal norms.

Embracing Unconventional Paths

Many societies still define normality by traditional routes—get an education, get a job, get married, and have children. Yet, this model doesn’t apply to everyone. Not following this path doesn’t invalidate one's normality; it simply means choosing a different path that suits their individuality. In essence, it’s about embracing the unique and authentic journey that each individual chooses.

By not conforming to the norm, one can find a sense of freedom and fulfillment. This journey of authenticity is not just about individual growth but also about making choices that resonate deeply with one’s true self, often leading to a more enriched and meaningful life.
