My First and Last Experience of Alcheringa IIT Guwahati

Alcheringa 2010, themed ldquo;Xtreme,rdquo; was my first and last experience of this legendary college fest at IIT Guwahati. The festival was a riot of energy, with Live performances by a legendary Swiss folk metal band, Eluveitie, that pushed the crowd to new heights.

I started the evening by attending a live performance by the youth-inspired folk metal band, Eluveitie, at Juggernaut. The concert began with the band playing their hit songs, ldquo;Inis Monardquo; and ldquo;Tegernako,rdquo; tantalizing the audience with their wild, high-energy performance. As the crowd lost themselves in the music through headbanging, I had an unexpected yet uneventful moment - I accidentally hit another IIT Guwahati student's nose, causing him to bleed, but he continued with his dance routine without a fuss. Later, during the festival, people broke into the front privileged section, causing some chaos, but everyone kept the spirit of the event intact.

Achievements and Challenges

Being a part of the prestigious Sponsorship team, anchoring the biggest dance competition, and even manning security at the entrance to the Pronite arena, were highlights of my Alcheringa experience. I also had the rare opportunity to watch Sonu Nigam from the team box. And, if you ask me, I even managed to secure a date after the couple dance event - quite a romantic interlude, indeed.

My stay at IIT Guwahati is incomplete without mentioning sleeping in the auditorium during all four nights of Alcheringa. It was filled with endless fun, planning sessions, and friend-making with fellow enthusiasts. I found myself becoming part of a new family, bonding with seniors and new friends, and tending to a dream that annually comes true.

The Overhyped Reality of Alcheringa

While some might overhype Alcheringa, portraying it as a grandiose event, the reality is quite different. The event brings together a community that values friendship, teamwork, and a shared passion for the whirlwind that is college life. For me, the best experience at Alcheringa was not the event itself but the orientation that preceded it. Its soul-stirring background music marked the start of an incredible journey that would define my college years.

Each day I dedicated to Alcher was unforgettable, and though my experiences span three years, the joy and sense of accomplishment remain the same. On this journey, I faced challenges and even felt a feeling of superiority, but ultimately, it is the pride I took in contributing to the fest that was the biggest highlight. I learned the value of hard work, the joys of friendship, and the profound sense of accomplishment that comes with achieving a shared goal.

A Memorable Journey with Alchingra

The first experience of Alcheringa was spellbinding, enthralling, and captivating. This fest, with its uncountable crowd, brilliant lineup of stars, and the sense of pride and joy, was more than just a college event. It was a journey with new friends, new relationships, and a sense of family. My memories of Alcheringa will stay etched in my heart, no matter how old I grow or how many years pass after I leave college. The happiness, pride, and joy of witnessing the fest happen because of our combined efforts are something that can never be taken away.

Ultimately, the dream of Alchingra exists to be realized every year, and one day, I could contribute to making that dream a reality with the handful bunch of people who align the fest to come to life. Alcheringa the word that has defined my cultural and social growth at IIT Guwahati will be cherished for a lifetime.
