Age is Just a Number: Maintaining Youthfulness in Mind and Body

It's all attitude. As a 66-year-old, I still feel young, not because of my appearance, but because of the way I approach life. It's my personal perspective that matters, and despite what others may think, I embrace my youthful thoughts and interests. My 93-year-old father even sees me as his child, and this bond will endure for as long as he lives.

Attitude is Key to Feeling Young

Age is just a number. What matters more is our attitude and our interest in what's going on in the world. Staying up-to-date with current music is one example. Rap and hip hop have been introduced to me through my children, while I grew up with rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and classic country. You wouldn't guess my age based on my knowledge and views.

Physical attributes can change, but as I experienced in 2015, one year can significantly age someone. However, exercise and maintaining a positive mindset have helped me regain my physical mobility. I still enjoy walking and never appreciated running, but these activities have brought me closer to my younger self in terms of vitality and energy.

How Old People Can Feel and Act Young

No intelligent person wishes to be younger physically. But mentally, there are ways to remain young at heart. Thinking like a young person is crucial. Let go of outdated beliefs and embrace fresh perspectives. For instance, if someone thinks "all girls should be housewives,” changing this mindset is key to maintaining a youthful outlook.

We spend most of our time in our minds, so it's essential to make that space positive. Your thoughts shape your life, from how you perceive situations and people to how you look. Positive thoughts can make you appear brighter, happier, and more energetic—like a ball of sunshine. Conversely, negative thoughts can lead to a gloomy demeanor and difficulty in smiling.

Surrounding Yourself with Positive Influence

The people around you also play a significant role in your mindset. Surround yourself with those who love and care about you and who emit positive energy. Negative energy can be contagious and may lead to a shift in your own thoughts.

In conclusion, age is just a number. Embrace your youthfulness of mind, voice your opinions, and surround yourself with positivity to stay young at heart.
