Adorable Pet Rabbits: Insights and Stories from a Passionate Owner

As a dedicated pet owner, I have had the joy of hosting a dynamic and lively collection of bunnies. From breeding new members regularly to celebrating the funny and unique personalities of each one, my rabbit community is a source of endless happiness and laughter. If you're interested in learning more about these fluffy and adorable creatures, read on as I share some insights and stories from my personal experience.

Meet My Thumper, a Black-and-White Dutch Rabbit

One of my most beloved bunnies is a black-and-white Dutch rabbit named Thumper. Thumper is not only the namesake of my collection but also serves as a perfect representation of the breed's striking appearance. What makes her truly special is the subtle difference in her characteristics. For instance, while other Dutch rabbits may have a somewhat rounded appearance, Thumper has sharper teeth, adding to her unique charm.

A Prolific Rabbit Family

My rabbit family has grown steadily over the years. The gestation period for rabbits is typically between 31 to 33 days, which means that every few months, my rabbit hutch is filled with new life. What started as a beautiful collection soon expanded to include 8 new family members every month, creating a lively and harmonious household.

Introducing Simba (Lion Head)

Simba, a Lion Head rabbit, is a special member of my bunny family. Her unique appearance and playful spirit have made her a favorite among my friends and family who stop by for visits. As she is only a year old, Simba is still growing and developing, much like a beautiful and bountiful flower that is just beginning to flourish.

Meet Alice Theo: A Bonded Pair

Another highlight of my rabbit community is Alice and Theo, a bonded couple of bunnies. Alice is a Mini Rex with a dramatic and lively personality, often marking her territory with her energetic antics. Theo, on the other hand, is a Rex rabbit known for his outgoing nature and affectionate behavior towards humans. The two bunnies complement each other’s personalities perfectly, providing endless entertainment and joy.

Cross-Post from the Original Post

Sure, I love showing off my Eddie! He is a five-month-old mixed breed Vienna-marked rabbit— I suspect he is at least part Dutch based on his markings and possibly part Polish/Britannia Petite based on the high arch of his back, but I don't know for sure, and I don't care. He is my little love, and he gives the best kisses ever. Eddie's a part of the family, and he brings a lot of joy and laughter into our home. Here are some photos of him in action:

Snoozing on the Living Room Floor
The mats are there to protect the carpeting. Lounging on His Bed
From IKEA, in his pen. Hanging on the Couch with Me His Spot Under the TV
Snooze... The “Dead Bunny Flop”
A position that can be scary to those unfamiliar with bunny behavior but is actually a sign of total contentment.

In the first photo I ever took of him, the day I brought him home back in July, he was 8 weeks old and teeny tiny. That cage, which was temporary housing, and he was only in for a week, would barely even hold him now. He is now about four pounds and the vet thinks he will top out around five max. Well, we'll see—I love watching him grow up!
