Activities That Lead to a Fulfilling Life: A Teacher's Perspective
I have always been blessed by engaging in a variety of physical activities, such as dance, yoga, aerobics, jogging, trekking, and swimming. These activities bring me a great deal of satisfaction and help me stay physically and mentally fit. Besides these, my everyday goal is to make the most productive use of every moment, while also making sure to enjoy each activity to the fullest. Even when I am exhausted at the end of the day, the peace and contentment I find brings me immense joy.
Seeking True Fulfillment
The main goal in life, for me, is to learn and grow, becoming a stronger, more powerful individual. However, true joy and fulfillment are not achieved through external activities alone. The ultimate bliss comes from a state of consciousness where we are aware of the truth and liberated from all misery and sorrow. While most people need some form of activity to become happy, true happiness lies in the state of being happy rather than just being happy. True happiness is not derived from activity but from inactivity, from just being.
Profession and Personal Fulfillment
My profession as a school teacher has been a significant part of my life, and I have chosen this path due to my passion for education, not out of lack of other options. Teaching and learning new things make my journey worthwhile. Being a teacher is a highly prominent figure in a student's life, and the trust students place in me, along with their joys and worries, brings me joy and a sense of contentment.
Here is a glimpse from my teaching day during a Republic Day. This picture stands as a testament to the joy and fulfillment that comes from making a positive impact on young minds.
Evolution of Joys
As we grow, our tastes and sources of joy evolve. In my childhood, the simple pleasure of riding a rented bicycle or watching black and white TV match between India and Pakistan was enough to bring immense joy. These activities, once a luxury, are no longer sufficient for my current state. My fascination now lies in the search for meaning and purpose in life, and I seek fulfillment through a wide range of activities, such as:
Reading Books: Engaging with books from various topics, including spirituality, history, psychology, religion, and human behavior, continues to be a source of joy and enlightenment. Quality Time with Loved Ones: Simple walks with my wife at the end of the day, sharing small everyday moments, and watching my son, Riyan, draw his favorite cartoon characters, bring me immense fulfillment and joy. Spiritual Movies: After extensive research, watching Hollywood movies that bring out new perspectives is one of the things that bring me the most joy. Connecting with Students: Teaching and seeing students achieve milestones bring me tremendous satisfaction and joy. Family Time: Spending time with my father, who has limited time on Earth, makes me feel happy and grateful. These simple yet profound experiences bring me profound joy and a sense of purpose, contributing to my overall happiness and fulfillment. This is my story, and I hope it inspires others to find their own sources of joy and fulfillment in life.
