A Sunday of Work and Traditions: My Day in Review
It is a bit of a wet day today, so nothing terribly exciting in the works. In the morning, I enjoyed a bit of a lie-in, made breakfast and got some housework out of the way. Post that, I walked into the nearby town to visit a Turkish barbershop for a much-needed haircut and to grab a copy of the Sunday Times.
After lunch, I managed to get lost in reading the newspaper for a couple of hours, before driving over to the golf range at Adlington to work on my swing fixes. I stopped by the Co-Op on my way home to pick up some evening meals before unwinding with some YouTube videos about the history of Manchester Airport. It was a peaceful end to the day before bed with my daily routines.
Meanwhile, my sister and her family visited my parents' home. There is a tradition in Nepal, particularly in the Brahmin community, where a newlywed couple visits the girl's parents on the 16th night after their wedding to complete some rituals. Given that my sister just got married recently, her in-laws joined us to celebrate our customs, which included preparing and sharing delicious traditional Nepalese dishes. We had a plethora of conversations, laughter, and an incredible time.
Spending the day in my kitchen with my husband's help, we made meals like selroti, chiniroti, and anarsha, preparing a small batch to be sent to her new home. It's our tradition to send these dishes to her marriage home. In the evenings, when the parents went to the temple a few kilometers away, my husband, son, sister, and her husband and I enjoyed motor boating and relished our favorite Panipuri by the riverside. The day ended on a high note, and it feels like it lasted forever.
Tomorrow after breakfast, I plan to take my truck to my workshop for relocation. Finally, I will meet family for a BBQ and have a lazy day by watching the weather. Life is good, and every day brings its own set of challenges and joy, which is what makes it worth living.
