A Bibliophile’s Journey: Sharing My Favourite Bookmarks

A Bibliophile’s Journey: Sharing My Favourite Bookmarks

It's so hard to describe our parents in limited words, but whenever I see something cute and perfect about mom, I can't help but share it. The same goes for my dad, who inspires awe with his quirks. I thought I would share a little something that matters in life – something that all book lovers can relate to: my favorite bookmarks.

Being a complete bibliophile, I found myself wandering through the Sahitya Academy Metro Book Shop and the National Book Trust Book Shop. Books are my best friends, and bookmarks are the perfect companions for my reading adventures. Today, I want to share some of these special bookmarks that are more than just simple paper holders.

The Wooden Bookmark

One of my very recent acquisitions is a wooden bookmark. It's not just a bookmark; it gives an ethnic feel when inserted between the pages. This is the one I am using the most.

Personalized Bookmarks

My other bookmarks are from various sources, but some are so personal and special. Here are a few of my favorites:

My Favourite Bookmark: A handmade piece from my friend when she was in 11th standard. You can see my name, Anannya, intricately woven into the design. Grandmother’s Gift: Another bookmark from my grandmother on my 13th birthday. It's one of those good old Archies bookmarks we used to get, a timeless classic. Dreamscape Bookmark: This one has the word 'Dreamscape' on it, which sounds like a place I’d love to visit. Yes, that’s me dreaming about a place and books. Life in a Book: A humorous and poignant quote that reflects my current state: 'This is one of those cool bookmarks Flipkart gives with their books. If I'm really engrossed in a book, the only thing that stops me is the thought of food. I'm a foodie.' Enjoy!

These bookmarks are more than just tools; they are memories and stories. They remind me of my parents, my friends, and my past adventures in the world of books.

How to Take Care of Your Books

As an avid book reader, I take great care in preserving my books. Personally, I despise folding the corners of pages and detest it when anyone does that. Over the years, I have noticed that when I return a book, it is often returned with creases in the spine and dog-eared pages. This is a big no-no for me!

I use bookmarks that come with the books I purchase, but I also collect a few favorites. Due to my reading habits, I keep using the same bookmarks over and over. Here are a few of my current favorites:

Wooden Bookmark: This one stands out because it gives an ethnic feel and is the most used now. Personalized Bookmark: Made by a close friend and cherished because of the personal touch. Old Archies Bookmark: A classic that brings back memories of childhood and my grandmother. Dreamscape Bookmark: A symbol of dreaming and loving literature. Flipkart Bookmark: A playful reminder of my love for books and food.

Note: The term 'bookmark' here refers to a physical object used to mark a page in a book, not an internet bookmark.

Thank you for the ask. Happy reading to all book lovers!
